Teaser Tuesday - Amber's Faerie Tale

From Amber's Faerie Tale - release date 2/25/14

I giggle to myself as he trips on his shoelaces as he heads back to our table.

“You really should tie your shoes.  Gimme your foot,” I say and pat my knee.  He grins that ridiculously adorable cat-like grin at me and places his foot on my knee.  I tell him step by step how to tie the shoe. He watches me as though it is the most fascinating thing he’s ever watched before.  We’re both too busy with his shoe to notice a group of snobs from school.

“Oh Thorne, how cute, you got yourself a little pet to tie your shoe.  If you decide to give up on little gothic girls, give me a call,” Stacy the school skank says.  She thinks that since she’s the captain of the cheerleader squad that she’s entitled to date whomever she wants.

Thorne looks at Stacy as though she’s grown a horn out of her forehead.  “You’re really not my type.  You’re simply ordinary, and I’m not an ordinary kind of person.  By the way, Amber is anything but ordinary, she’s amazing.”  The words fall from his lips and my heart leaps to my throat.  “Could you scurry away now, we’re having a private conversation,” Thorne says sarcastically.

FROM THE AUTHOR - If you haven't read The Light Tamer, get your free ecopy now and find out who Amber is.  Happy reading!  Add Amber's Faerie Tale to your TBR list!

Mermaid's Curse - Daniele Lanzarotta

Synopsis:

Arianna always felt like she didn’t belong in the world where she was born.  Ever since she was little, she used to hide behind the rocks in the sea, and watch the human family who spent their summers on that island.  Over the years, there was nothing she wished more than to be like them, especially so she could get close to Blake, the human boy who she saw turn into a troubled teenager and then, an unhappy man.
Once her dad grew tired of her dreams and hopes for a reality that is not her own, Arianna is thrown into an arranged marriage, and her only way out of it is to make a deal with the power-hungry man who will give her everything that she has ever dreamed of.  Dreams that turn into nightmares as she watches Blake’s world fall apart, because of her and Blake’s inability to control their desires for one another.

REVIEW

I'm not going to write another synopsis, just my views.  First, I must say I wasn't sure about the mermaid thing....but hey, I write about werewolves and they aren't my thing either.  Well slap me silly, what a fun read.  Mermaid loves human, who is engaged (or almost) to another human...to a sinister brother, a horrible man, a lovely child and pissed off ocean.  My kind of angst, romance, imagination, and rainy afternoon read.  It didn't rain for me, but rain would have made the mermaid thing that much better.  Although the book is NA, I would be comfortable with 14+ to read.  Just the right amount of love and dammit that cliff hanger!   Oh my!

For people that don't have an imagination and believe in love or paranormal tales (tails) of mermaids, you might want to steer clear.

I received an ARC of this book by the author in trade for an honest review.

My Rating = 5 fairies

Enlightened Cover Reveal!

Enlightened Cover Reveal
by Devyn Dawson

Recently our founder Emma Michaels announced that she is doing book covers.  I've been struggling over what my second book in The Light Tamer Series would be...until I saw Emma's work.  (I'm going Southern speak....so tune your ears to Southern).  Girl, let me tell you, that Emma girl...she got mad skills!  Have you seen her work?  Child, you must check her covers out.  They are so good you can butter my butt and call me a biscuit!   (taking a sip of some sweet tea)  Holy cow! Squeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Do you get the picture?  Her work is very professional, and her prices are very affordable.  We collaborated together and decided that The Light Tamer needed a face-lift.  It makes it easier for readers to recognize they are from the same series.  I agreed.  I loved the old book cover and I love the new one.  What do I like about Emma's covers?  First, her eye for colors and subject matter are great.  Since she is a writer, she understands the need to draw the reader from the cover alone.  Not only are her covers beautiful but her banners are very attractive.  When you're considering your own cover, you need to ask yourself a couple of questions.

          1.  Will it appeal to readers?
          2.  Will it look good in print?
          3.  Does it tell a story?
          4.  Does it 'speak' to you?

Now for my cover reveal for Enlightened.  Let me know what you think!  If you want to see more of Emma's covers.... http://emmamichaels.blogspot.com/
